UGH, what a day.
Dow dropping 1k+ points in two days. Political system pulling muscles pointing fingers and talking out of the sides of their mouths. What the hell are we to do?
I dunno about you, but I am makin’ a freaking sandwich!
Teri grabbed some sort of cured meat explosion at Costco, so the bases were loaded. Add in some good old fashioned garbage shredded lettuce, and we have a real game on our hands.
Stack (bottom to top):
- Bread
- Butter
- Gouda Cheese
- Regular Salami
- Capocollo
- Proscuitto
- Calabrese
- Tomato
- Lettuce
- Dressing (Olive Oil, Red Wine Vinegar, Chopped Oregano from the neighbors, yellow mustard, red pepper flakes)
- Mayo
- Butter
- Bread
I cut the bread in half and buttered the cut side with enthusiasm. I grilled it butter side down for 5-7 minutes with the lid on to warm the bread all the way through, then I started the stack cheese first to help it melt slightly. Tossed on the tomato and lettuce, dressed and cut.
The bread was from Turano and the meat was Costco. Lettuce was random iceberg and the tomato was from my neighbor Glenna.
Because it was a sandwich kinda day, the kids had a family style selection.

The pressed Cuban sandwich is Tom's favorite, though he swaps the pickle for Iceberg lettuce. That will end when he enters kindergarten. We do have standards around here, sometimes.
